Surf Lessons Banner

Patrick von Wiegandt: Writer, Director...

...thought he was going to be a rock star, but ended up with a bunch of strippers, burlesque comics and chorus girls in a Broadway show called "This Was Burlesque." Not being a total idiot, he married one of the chorus girls. He eventually made it to the music business and played bass guitar in lousy bands, worked for Warner, Electra, Atlantic Records as a sales rep and became an engineer and producer in Hollywood.

He worked on hundreds of albums in Hollywood including projects with Barbara Streisand, Janes Addiction, Dolly Parton, David Foster, Earth, Wind and Fire, Toto and many others.

Being an opportunistic wanna be/groupie he jumped on the high tech bandwagon in the early 90's and started producing audio/video for major conferences including, MacWorld, C/NET, EBAY, MacroMedia, Netscape, Palm Pilot and hundreds more. His company opened one of the first successful Web stores in 1994. (WWW.VWTAPES.COM) It still pays the bills.

As a screenwriter, Patrick has authored 7 screenplays and has studied with and been mentored by screenwriting giants and literary masters: Chris Vogler, Richard Walters (UCLA), Richard Krevolin (USC), and Elizabeth Engstrom. He wrote, produced and directed the short comedy Give Me The Chocolate And Nobody Gets Hurt.

Recent projects include: Voice-overs and narration for Hawaii Dept. of Education,  Lavanet, Nissan Motors, U.S. Coast Guard and many more videos. He recently sang the part of the ghost father in Bread, The Musical, and sang and performed on the music video, Political Science (Drop the Big One).

He does windows, takes out the trash, gives inspirational talks at schools, goes surfing with his daughter, nieces and nephews, plays bass guitar in a choir and plays music at parties. He only whines a little bit. Patrick grew up in Hawaii and spent his youth surfing on the west side of Oahu and has seldom been far from the ocean ever since.
